Phone Number

Formware's Phone Number question lets you collect contact details in a formatted and neat way. Whether you are making a lead gen form, organizing an event, or creating a job application form, this question gives your respondents a great-looking and easy way to give you their phone details that is clean, readable, and valid.

Add a Phone Number question to your form

  1. Open the form that you would like to edit and click on the + Add question button to open the list of available question types.
  2. Select Phone Number.
  3. Now you can write your question text and add a description if you like.
  4. In Question settings, you can set the question to Required, and also choose the default country code that will appear on your form. Click the dropdown menu, and scroll to your chosen country, then click it.

  1. Once you are happy with your settings, that’s it! Click the three dots icon to Duplicate or Delete your question. You can also drag and drop it to a different position in your form.

How is an input Phone Number validated

While filling the form, the respondent can type or select a country code from the dropdown menu, it is different form the default country code that was set for the question. For countries that share the same country code, a list of matching countries will appear in the dropdown.

Once a country code is chosen and the respondent starts typing, the border of the input box becomes red and the submit button gets disabled, indicating that the phone number is invalid.

After the respondent finishes typing and if the entry is a valid phone number, the red color on the border disappears and the submit button gets enabled, signalling to the user that their entry is valid and they can proceed to the next question.
